Star Stealing Prince

I have never been a fan of turn-based games. I found it rather tedious having to control the actions of each member of the party as they wait in turn to attack the opposing party. I found it really weird. I mean, in a real life battle, I don't think the other side would wait for you as you wonder whether you'll use your sword on him or use magic. No, he'll slash at your throat before you even make your decision. I practically had to force myself to be play pokemon on the emulator. Other days, I just opted to play Zelda instead. Hack-and-slash games really is more of my thing with Diablo II being a big part of my childhood.

I got into playing rpg-maker games in summer 2014. I usually picked horror games so it wouldn't take long for me to finish playing and I just really like scaring myself shitless. But the rpg player within me just screamed for more action and adventure and the much needed killing-spree. I got onto rpgmaker.net and found this game on the front page. It's called "Star Stealing Prince." You can find the game here on rpgmaker and here for their website.

I want that bedroom for myself! X3

Here's a summary I got from their page on rpgmaker.

In a kingdom covered in snow, in a kingdom where the snow never melts and never goes away, there lives a prince who keeps watch over his kingdom and resolves to maintain peace. When the prince learns that his family’s history isn’t as spotless as he had been told, he endeavors to fix what his family had done wrong and to ensure the continual peace of his kingdom. This will lead the prince to battling the phantoms that prowl the lands, to saving a princess, and to realizing the secrets of his family and his kingdom.

It was really the title that got me interested. I just absolutely love fantasies especially the ones with a prince thrown in the mix. With the lengthy intro on the first paragraph, you may have already guessed that this is a turn-based game.

Inside a cave with a scarecrow. There are others scattered around the map who you can talk to.

The graphics is really pretty. I'm quite into pixelated art right now. It reminds me of the games I used to play when I was a kid. The BGM sounds really relaxing. It made me feel that I really am in a magical world. And I just love the concept of the story. It's pretty interesting and the plot twists! All of that just made me really want to play the game despite it being turn-based.

Mr. Snowman!

There are snowmen! You can even talk to them. ♥ Each snowman says something different. They're not really helpful but who cares, you can talk to them. XD

I actually haven't finished the game yet. I just started chapter 4. So far, it's been really fun. There are a few simple puzzles to solve. In this game you really have to listen to your rpg-gamer instincts and explore every single place, barge into people's houses unannounced to get some free stuff. Hey, you're a prince, they don't care. Not that NPCs care much when you steal their stuff in other games. LOL. Also, talk to people! They also give free stuff!

I recommend this game especially if you're into turn-based rpg or if you're bored and you want a new good game to play! On their site they actually have a novel-based sequel for the game. They also have other games and I recall one of them also made it on the front page of rpgmaker. Go check 'em out guys! :D
